Disc junky
Mark Twain called golf, “a good walk spoiled.” In Anchorage though, disc golf makes a good walk, great.
Anchorage has three disc golf courses, all which showcase the best and coolest things about living here. They offer a chance to see wildlife and awesome scenery while getting some exercise and a little healthy competition. Add some the midnight sun and some friends and it doesn’t get better than that.
But it does get better than!
Whether it’s just me or with a group of friends; on my lunch break or a planned Saturday morning, I love to play a round when I can. Outside from the obvious; Anchorage’s postcard beauty, getting some clean, fresh air and costing nothing, courses in Anchorage are so easy to get to! Being able to ride a bike or go for a run to each of the courses just adds to the great outdoor factor. There is no better way to get back home or extend your day by jumping on the bike trail when you finish a round.
Since I work Downtown, sneaking away for a quick 9 holes during lunch is never a problem. The one trouble comes when I want to stay out longer and enjoy the beauty, serenity, and enjoyment of the course. And when I want to play 18 holes at Kincaid Park, I always plan on staying a little bit longer knowing I’ll stop and watch the sunset for a few extra moments, take pictures in the woods, or watch the resident moose or porcupine.
I travel with my discs when I am vacation and have played at over 15 different courses in the Lower 48. No other place comes as close as a great place to play disc golf. With its combination of unique, beautiful surroundings, well-maintained courses, and incredible convenience, Anchorage is the prefect setting for disc golf.
