Born to be wild!

Why we love living in Anchorage:

We love that we can catch huge king salmon before work or on our lunch break in Ship Creek (downtown), not to mention “suicide runs” to the Kenai and Russian River – the best salmon rivers in the world! We can leave Anchorage at 5 p.m., catch our limit and be home in time to catch the late news.

We have the best “backyard” in the world! The Chugach State Park! We hike at least one of the many front rage peaks after work at least once a week with our “Peak-a-Week” friends.

The Last Great Race on Earth (Iditarod) starts right downtown Anchorage!

We’ve lost count of the number of times we have been awed by the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) just looking out our window shortly before drifting off to sleep.

Moose, bears, even the occasional wolf roam the streets and our backyard.

Carhardts are considered fine dining attire at most restaurants. We love the no-dress code – anything goes in Alaska.

It is a regular occasion to be grilling burgers, drinking a beer and watching bear and sheep on the mountainside through the spotting scope from our house.

When I moved to Alaska six and a half years ago, I owned at least 30 pair of shoes. I soon realized I only needed about four: work shoes, running/hiking shoes, boots, and my favorite pair – hip-waders! I guess I own five; my second favorite are my snowshoes!

Alaskans are extremely helpful people and friends become family members.

Our names are Matt and Casey Randall, and we live a Big Wild Life!™
